Volunteers Wanted
Heartlands, the new free visitor attraction, community space and World Heritage Site based in Pool, West Cornwall is looking to recruit an army of volunteers to assist with the running of its ambitious year-round activity. Roles will involve supporting the events programme, gardening, visitor services and arts and heritage tours.
A Volunteer Fair, in partnership with Volunteer Cornwall, will be held on Thursday 9 February between 3.00pm-7.00pm at the new Visitor Centre within Heartlands, where interested individuals will get the chance to find out more about this inspirational new site, meet the staff and discover more about the exciting opportunities on offer.
Heartlands is a £35million Cornwall Council led development which is being funded through a £22.3m grant from the Big Lottery Fund and investment from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), Cornwall Council and the European Union.
Opening in spring 2012, the site includes World Heritage Site exhibitions, café and bar, art and craft studios, botanical gardens and the biggest adventure playground in Cornwall.
Managed by the charity, the Heartlands Trust, Heartlands will be run as a social enterprise relying heavily on volunteers to support the small core staff team.
Volunteers at Heartlands will have the chance to receive training to develop and further their skills in a diverse range of areas within the roles such as health and safety and customer services.

From working with unusual plants from across the world in our Diaspora Botanical Gardens, to assisting with exciting events such as festivals and theatre performances, there really is something interesting for everyone. "
